Employee Evaluation

The employee evaluation is an opportunity for an employee and his or her supervisor to meet and discuss the employee's job performance on a regular basis. The evaluation will include a discussion regarding the achievement of a set of goals previously established. It may include a 360-degree review, those assessments from the employee's supervisor, peers, subordinates and customers as well as a self-assessment.

The goal of an employee evaluation should be to increase communication, establish clear expectations, reinforce good performance while improving unsatisfactory performance. From a supervisor's point of view, it is also an opportunity to document specific criteria for salary increases, promotions or disciplinary actions. also involves setting goals with a plan of action for the next period.

 

An employee evaluation is another term for an employee review. It is a formal process in which a supervisor and employee meet to discuss an evaluation of an employee's job performance based upon previously agreed upon established goals. Additionally, future goals and career aspirations may be discussed as well as the type of training necessary to reach those goals.
