What about Blogs?
When people think blogs, the first things that come to mind are topics like technology, politics and pop culture. But did you know that the HR world is absolutely teeming with blogs? That’s right, from recruiting and leadership to performance and talent management, there are over 400 HR related blogs out there, with more being added all the time. (to get the lowdown on what a blog is, have a look at this wikipedia article)

Why should you care? Well, blogs (a shortened form of web logs) are changing the way companies communicate. At SuccessFactors, we use our corporate blog to promote discussion on topics that our customers are thinking about - and to make sure we understand what’s on people’s minds. And for HR, there’s another reason to understand blogs - your employees are writing them as we speak. There are nearly 50 million blogs out there, and some have provoked serious debate about what employees can and cannot say in public.

So, without further ado, here’s a shortlist of HR blogs that are worth your time. Read ‘em and feel free to participate, too. Blogs let you talk back and make your voice heard - so take advantage and let people know what you think.
  • SystematicHR - A comprehensive and compelling blog centered on HR technology but free roaming around all sorts of issues that affect HR practitioners. One of the best around, period - from a guy who knows what he’s talking about.

  • Talentism - As the author puts it "A practitioner theorist exploring the leading-edge of talent, business and technology."

  • HR’s Brand New Experience - Regina covers some of the softer issues in HR, with consistently insightful stuff that has you clicking the subscribe button about 2 seconds after the site loads in your browser.

  • The Human Capitalist - Jason Corsello of The Yankee Group is one of the most respected analysts in the space. This is his personal blog, so you can find pictures of his dog alongside thoughts penned by one of the guys finding clarity in the ever-changing and sometimes confusing world of performance and talent management.

  • The HR Blogging Community - Compiled and maintained by Michael Specht from down under, this site lists and tracks over 400 HR related blogs.

  • BlogERP - Jim Holincheck from Gartner discusses some of his own research as well as other topics from the HCM software world.

  • Recruiting.com - a sort of mecca of recruiting info and conversation.
