Maine Medical Center Drives Increased Hospital Performance with SuccessFactors

Talent Management Solution Part of Strategic Technology Investment; SuccessFactors Only Vendor to Match Technology Requirements

Maine Medical Center, the largest hospital in Maine, is both a teaching hospital and an active research center with centers of excellence being developed in cancer care, heart care, children's services, and other areas. The medical center chose to implement SuccessFactors' performance management solution as part of a larger enterprise initiative to leverage cutting edge technologies that would help the organization deliver on their corporate mission of providing excellence in healthcare by increasing the level of care provided to every patient who uses their facility.

Prior to implementing SuccessFactors, Maine Medical Center had completed the first phase of overhauling an antiquated, manual performance review process. The organization had spent two years on Phase 1 planning and preparation, identifying and defining over 32,000 competencies for over 680 different staff positions. The IT group at Maine Medical then developed a repository to hold this data as well as a newly developed review form. A substantial amount of man hours were spent loading data into the repository and the evaluation team felt it imperative that this data be able to be easily loaded into the chosen technology solution without having to separately re-input the repository of information. Maine Medical also required technology that could map to their current position and mimic the exact look and feel of the newly revised review form. SuccessFactors was the only performance management vendor who could meet these technology requirements.
