Interview: Kristen from Birchbark

Dr. Steve caught up with Kristen Frykman (LinkedIn Profile) from Birchbark Consulting. One of the pillars in a good organization is Talent Management. Kristen is typically brought in during the implementation stage to help with successful deployments with HR solutions.

A few rules to success in implementation include:

  • Don’t over promise, under deliver
  • Be up front - this is going to be tough
  • Set Service Level Agreements up front
  • Communicate, communicate, communicate

Kristen gives some great advice - CEO’s in today’s world typically have a top 5 goal of”Excellence in performance management” - with that it requires Excellence in Tools. There are quite a few other nuggets in the interview, so be sure to give it a listen if you are preparing from a HR or Talent Management system implementation.

This week, Jim and Steve take a step back and let a professional do the interviewing. Stuart Lauchlin, a technology journalist. He recently wrote an article for HR Zone about SuccessFactors.

In addition, Stuart attended SuccessConnect 2008 and conducted an audio interview with the Founder and CEO of SuccessFactors, Lars Dalgaard. Stuart was kind enough to let us play the interview for all our listeners.

Today’s show is focused on achievable top line growth through the use of SuccessFactors Performance & Talent Management solution. In a different format from the norm, Stacey Epstein interviews Jay Larson, the Global VP of Sales at SuccessFactors.

The discussion centered around the recent study conducted by Saugatuck Technology Inc., a leading SaaS (software-as-a-Service) consulting and research service. Saugatuck studied all public customers with 500 or more employees that have been using SuccessFactors for at least 3 full quarters and found that at least 2-3% top line growth is attributable to the usage of SuccessFactors.

This report confirms what we have believed all along – setting and aligning goals throughout the organization, measuring and managing employee performance, compensating employees based on their results, and focusing on making great use of talent across the organization directly lead to better financial results.

Download Saugatuck Study and then contact SuccessFactors so you too can achieve top line growth for your company.
