Hi, this is Steve Hunt with People Performance Radio. This week marks our 52nd episode of People Performance Radio, so it's our one year anniversary of sorts, and just taking a brief moment to one, just to reflect on how far we’ve come, talk a little bit about the show, and how we’ve seen it evolve, just some quick thoughts, and maybe highlight a few shows that I think are worth going back and looking at earlier, but I want to start out with saying that this show, which I have really enjoyed, I have certainly learned a tremendous amount from all the great thought leaders and people that we’ve had on this, expanded my thinking on talent management incredibly, and I hope the same is for you, the listeners.
I also wanted to thank, on this one year anniversary, some people that have been key to this, which are Jim Matheson, who really is the person who got this off the ground, Zak Perkins, who played a key role in getting the recording and how to actually do these podcasts, and Jason Blair, who's joined us recently, who's also picking up where Jim left off and taking it to the next level, plus just a lot of other help and support from all the people at Success Factors I work with, as well as all the help and support from all the great people that we’ve had that have appeared on this show.
So, that being said, this really is to show, although I get to be the voice on it, it truly is a team effort, and I really appreciate all the work and assistance that I get from other people, including input from the listeners, and so if there are any of you that are interested in this show, we encourage comments and thoughts and increasingly I get more and more dialogue of people that walk up to me at conferences and say, "Hey, I listen to your show", and I’m always, "Well, that's fantastic", and if any of you listen and have any thoughts, comments, topics you’d like to see us cover, or if you’d like to appear on the podcast, please don’t hesitate to send us an email at peopleperformanceradio@successfactors.com, or you can send it to my personal email, which is shunt@successfactors.com, or there are links on our website.
The thing I want to say, is looking back over the year, what struck me the most is the diversity of the guests and the topics that we’ve had on this show. We set out really say, we want to do a show about increasing people's awareness about effective practices from maximising workforce productivity; that was really the guideline for this, and we wanted to get people that had interesting things to say, if you're interested in, how can we make people more effective at work? – more successful companies, more successful employees, and the shows that we’ve had have really spanned the gamut from Bob Sutton in the "No Asshole" rule show, some of my looking back, that was one of the early shows that I think was one of my personal favorites, just because some of the great comments about the scientific approach to defining what an asshole is; some of Dave Sirota talking about the history of employee engagement, I don't know I think we had 40 something people, so I can’t cover all of them, but Andrea Weiland talking about the importance of physical health and leadership health, and that was a really fascinating show, saying that you cannot be a real effective leader if you're not physically healthy, or at least it's not sustainable long-term; Nic Garbis from Inform talking about some of the really cool things around workforce planning and analytics, some of the great Success Factors' clients we’ve had, Jim Irvine from Nissan and just really innovative ways of re-thinking the nature of performance management, and how performance management should truly be structured, if we really want to use it as a tool to drive productivity, and not just as an administrative process; Tess Reinhard from CEW and some of her thoughts around taking succession planning all the way down throughout the organization, and not just limiting it to the top of the organization; Josh Bersin talking about different ways of using talent management technology, and how the technology is really evolving very quickly, and changing what's possible in companies in terms of workforce productivity, while also recognizing the limitations of technology, that ultimately talent management is about people working with people, it's not just about setting up cool computer systems – just all kinds of really fascinating topics, so as we close up on our one year, I’d guess I’d encourage you as a listener on this show, if nothing else to go back and page back through some of the podcasts on a website and take a look there, because there's a lot of really great, fascinating stuff there, a tremendous amount of information.
Looking forward, what we're planning to do is really continue what we’ve started, continue talking to a lot of talent management experts, diverse areas, we plan to revisit some of the people that we’ve talked with and say, it's year later – what's changed? What's stayed the same, perhaps? – but probably the most important thing that would really help us to improve the quality of this show is input from the listening audience, this is ultimately, we do this to share insights that are useful to you as the listener, so if there's stuff that you like, stuff that you dislike, please don’t hesitate to weigh in, send us an email or make a comment on the podcast, we absolutely look at those, and we’d love to hear from you, but again I just wanted to thank everyone that's been involved with this for allowing us to achieve this 52 episode milestone, one year of People Performance Radio, and I look forward to 52 more great episodes in the year to come. Thank you.
