Q: Where in your background did you learn the most?
A: I grew up at J. D. Edwards. It was a great environment where I was able to grow from front line sales rep through managing managers across sales and service with great mentors and role models along the way.
Q: If you could meet one person in history, who would you meet and why?
A: Socrates – how brilliant is the Socratic method – people learning from answering questions – sounds like sales to me!
Q: What's been your biggest surprise during your time at SuccessFactors?
A: The relevance and importance of our business model to our clients. The huge value I have seen our clients receive from the purity of our business model continually amazes me – I just keep finding unexpected value – every day. It just cannot be matched or replicated by traditional software vendors.
Q: If you had 20 seconds to tell a new client about why they should use SuccessFactors, what would you say?
A:
- It delivers the promised value
- Users Use it (adoption is huge)
- Zero Risk
- It is proven by our clients – talk to them
- We don't close deals, we open relationships
Q: Why do you believe in the promise of Performance & Talent Management?
A: A wise man once said to me "inspect what you expect" That simple phrase encapsulates what we do here – we give organizations the ability to set relevant goals throughout the organization, track and assess those goals at the individual level, then reward develop and promote employees based upon pure achievement. It is a straight forward and logical idea, like feeding tuna fish mayonnaise.
Q: Do you have a story or memory of how P&TM has helped you in your career?
A: I had a top performing sales rep who had asked for my sponsorship into a management position. When we ran a 360 peer review, some of the results and opinions came back less than favorable. The first response when we discussed the results was "none of that matters, I'm selling more than anyone else". What better platform could a manger ask for to launch into a discussion of what it would really take to be a great manager? This spurred specific, measurable changes in behavior.
Q: Why are you proud to work at SuccessFactors?
A: This is the only software company I have ever seen where our business model and business drivers align perfectly with our clients' business objectives. The result is naturally satisfied and successful clients. This stuff is a joy to sell.
